Sports For Kids Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life of special needs children, and their families, in the Omaha, Nebraska area, and around the United States. We use money raised in yearly fund raisers (sports memorabilia auction and a golf tournament) to impact special needs children, and their families, with donations typically from $500-1500 each. These donations include (but are not limited to) helmets for children with Plagiocephaly, equine therapy visits, equipment for children with physical therapy needs, adaptive equipment for children involved in sports activities, and many more.
The Foundation needs donations to purchase some of the items for the yearly auction. These items used to be easier to obtain in the past, and were mostly donated by athletes and teams. While many are still donated, because of the heavy demand, we do have to purchase many items (upwards of 40% of our 175 yearly auction items). Because of the generosity of the auction attendees, we typically can take all purchased items and double and triple the value of a purchased item. This provides us the ability to make more impactful gifts each year!
- We are a grassroots organization, and have been going strong for over 30 years, here in Omaha.
- We assemble one of the largest yearly in-person memorabilia auctions in the midwest to raise funds!
- Two of our original members of the Foundation still do the majority of the work on the auction each year.
