Southwest Iowa Families provides high quality outpatient mental health counseling to all ages, genders, and life issues by professional licensed and trained staff. Home visiting Family support programs are available to families with children age 0-5. Fun and interactive Parent Education classes are offered for parents to learn appropriate discipline, ages and stages development, car seat safety and much more. The agency has become a premier provider of children's mental health services and is committed to developing programs and training staff to meet the needs of young children. Southwest Iowa Families mission is "enhancing the lives of children and their families in southwest Iowa". It is our vision that all children will live in a safe and nurturing environment. We are dedicated to provide services that prevent child abuse and neglect, and treating children and adults who have abuse history. We believe it is most effective to prevent problems rather than focus exclusively on treating existing problems.
- Counseling services have increase 30% each of the past three years. A new facility is almost complete to allow for additional staff and services.
- 120 families are currently receiving home visits from a Family Support Specialist to help them with child development, behaviors, & local resources.
- 75% of our clients are children and 89% of all clients are low to moderate level income.
