Habitat for Humanity of Council Bluffs is an ecumenical Christian housing organization working to revitalize neighborhoods in the Council Bluffs community. We build simple, decent, affordable homes with community partners and families in need.
Qualifying applicants must be legal residents of the US, have good credit, and a household income typically from 30%-60% and no higher than 80% of the median income. Each potential Habitat owner is required to provide at least 400 hours of sweat equity as part of the home building process.
Habitat for Humanity of Council Bluffs collaborates with hundreds of volunteers to build quality homes. These collaborations provide: educational and case management support, credit assistance, volunteers (both skilled and un-skilled), building materials, monetary donations and other resources. These partnerships provide the resources to help families receive a “hand-up not a hand-out” needed to attain their dream of homeownership.
- To date we have completed over 95 homes in Council Bluffs.
- Habitat built its first home in the fall of 1993 while preparing for formal affiliation with Habitat for Humanity International.
