Big Red Rescue of the Heartland helps abandoned, surrendered, abused, and neglected animals find safe loving foster homes and forever homes. We educate owners and the public on responsible pet ownership. We also help rehabilitate and socialize abandoned, neglected, abused, orphaned and/or surrendered animals by providing temporary safe shelter and medical/dental treatments as needed. We ensure no animal shall be adopted for the purposes of breeding or scientific/medical experimentation.
These animals are socialized extremely well as our adoptable companions are meeting and greeting several elderly care staff and residents. We make it the norm to go out of our way to keep active dog owners active by providing foster care if they so choose to do so. Our care does not stop at the animal companion as our volunteers are always watching and listening to the needs of others and filling the gaps for those in need. Sharing is caring!
- Black dogs are the ones which will be euthanized prior to all others. We try to assist many more black dogs than those of any other color & sharing the LOVE
- Assisting in dog training as diabetic alert dogs, emotional support dogs and dogs for veterans. We make it our business to help with whatever we possibly can.
- Our goal is to save as many animals as possible and educate the public on animal diseases, preventive vaccinations, heart worm prevention, spays and neutering.
