On Saturday, November 30, Goodwill will host a “Thanks for Giving” event encouraging donors to “unstuff” ahead of the holidays. Goodwill aims to provide affordable goods for all and to encourage recycling.
Some of the most in-demand items this time of year include coats, shoes, clothes, electronics, and small appliances, such as coffee machines and blenders. Gently used items become someone’s needed treasures. Donations are turned into sales at Goodwill, helping create workforce development training that leads to quality jobs in our community. If the item is not sellable, Goodwill recycles it through brokers who repurpose textiles, wire, metal, stuffed animals, and denim into useful items, keeping these items out of landfills.
Goodwill encourages everyone to dig through their closets and donate. In celebration of Giving Tuesday, Goodwill is asking for 100 bags. To learn more about recycled items, visit GoodwillOmaha.org/Sustainability.
